The Department of Indian & ASEAN Studies prepares graduates with the skills and regional expertise to succeed in diverse professional fields. Our alumni have pursued rewarding careers in government, international organizations, academia, media, global corporations, NGOs, and research institutes, both in Korea and abroad.
Drawing on a strong interdisciplinary foundation in politics, economics, society, and culture of India and Southeast Asia, our graduates are well positioned to contribute to policymaking, global business, and cultural exchange. Many have gone on to play important roles in public service, diplomatic institutions, multinational companies, and leading universities, while others are active in think tanks and international development organizations.
In particular, graduates from our program have found opportunities in national research institutes (e.g., Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, Korean Educational Development Institute), financial institutions (e.g., Woori Bank, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea), private research centers (e.g., Samsung Economic Research Institute), corporations (e.g., POSCO, Samsung C&T), and government agencies (e.g., National Intelligence Service, Ministry of Justice). This wide range of placement reflects the Department’s commitment to fostering professionals capable of bridging Korea, India, and ASEAN.
